Athena Octavia is an electric/acoustic violinist and pianist. She is classically trained, graduating from both Oxford University and the Royal Academy of Music with distinction. Since then, she has been performing in a huge range of genres, from Beethoven’s Violin and Piano Sonatas on Radio 3s ‘in Tune’ to performing with Ed Sheeran at the BRIT awards 2022
Athena has just returned from Dubai, where she spent 6 months leading the string quartet resident at ‘Josette’, as well as performing in Candlelight concerts across Dubai and assisting in workshops with the National Youth Orchestra of Dubai. In the UK, alongside performing with Steeleye Span, Athena is a member of an Indie-Folk band, Iris and Steel, who released their debut EP in November 2022 and were handpicked by George Ezra to perform at Latitude Festival 2023. She also regularly leads the Brixton Chamber Orchestra in projects and led their Summer Estates Tour this year, providing free concerts in estates across Lambeth. She plays a Bridge Aquila Green and Black Electric Violin, an Aurora 5-string electric violin, and a John Wilkinson Acoustic Violin.
